NewsBarrett Brings Big Business and Big Government Experience to Local Students February 8, 2006 Peabody, MAAt only 31 years-old, Donald Barrett has definitely experienced success, and fortunately for local youth, is enthusiastic about passing on his tricks of the trade. On Wednesday, February 8th, Barrett spoke to an excited group of students in a Government class at Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, Massachusetts. Barrett has already grown a multi-million dollar business from the ground up, as well as done something most people will never do in a lifetime - take on the Federal Government in court. In a 45-minute talk on Wednesday, February 8th, Barrett addressed an eager group of about twenty high school students concerning his company's experiences with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). Barrett expounded upon how he has handled the tight situations he has found himself in over the past few years with these two federal organizations. Barrett's company, ITV, markets life-changing products, and the majority of the products are dietary supplements. There are no hard and fast rules in the dietary supplement industry, yet there are huge penalties for those who make any kind of misleading claim. After the FTC twice tried, and failed, to close down the ITV Headquarters in Beverly, Massachusetts, Barrett decided to stand up and defend himself, his employees and loyal customers. "After all we've been through, we're still coming out on top." The FTC dove into the allegations blindly, claiming ITV had made unsubstantiated health claims during its television programs. The FTC made these allegations before even requesting a copy of the scientific substantiation ITV had supporting the effectiveness of its products. The students were fascinated by Barrett's battle, and hands shot up with questions. Barrett went on to share his personal philosophies on success. Every student received a copy of the book: The Magic of Thinking Big, and an audio CD by Earl Nightengale, "The Strangest Secret for Succeeding in the World Today - Revisited." "Discovering and exploring the ideologies in this book and this CD marks a turning point in my life. I decided that I was going to pursue my every dream and goal with the utmost perseverance." The young entrepreneur went on to detail how he made his rise in the business world in just a few short years. A native of Saugus, MA, Barrett started his business ventures while working out of a room over a garage and supplementing his income working as a chef at Prince Pizza. Barrett's enthusiasm and engaging personality had the students captivated, and he opened the floor for questions: "How do I start my own company?" "What other products does your company sell?" How do I sue the government?" and "How many shows do you shoot a week?" Closing his talk on a note of personal importance, Barrett imparted upon the students his belief in living a healthy lifestyle. It is this personal agenda that set the stage for his company's mission to "Positively Impact People™," by changing lives with high-quality, all-natural products. "Think Big and you'll live big," states the author of The Magic of Thinking Big, David J. Schwartz, Ph.D. There's no doubt that President and CEO of ITV, Donald Barrett is thinking big. It's also evident that if Barrett was to write his own book, thinking big would include encouraging those around you to do the same. ITV Studios Rolls-Out New, High Definition, 20,000 ft ² Television Production Studio February 1, 2006 Beverly, MAThe new television production studio at ITV World Headquarters is the largest infomercial production studio in the nation. "Today, the majority of direct response short spots are filmed on a green screen because it gives them so much flexibility. The ITV Studios new green screen is going to give us tons of new room for creativity." Commenting upon other developments in the ITV Studios repertoire, the VP of Television Production said, "We used an original music score composed specifically for one of our commercials. We're very pleased with the way the music integrates with the script and visuals." With the growth of the ITV Studios staff, construction and expansion plans are already in the works. Additional office space will accommodate new tape duplication systems and staff. The new systems will streamline the manual/digital process and increase productivity and accuracy. ITV Studios is also working with the ITV IT Department and ITV Media to design and implement a new, custom tracking system for the tape duplication process. For maximum campaign efficiency, ITV tracks the results of every individual media buy. Currently a manual process, this automated system will automatically assign every and ITV Media long and short form buy with its own individual 800 number. Speaking about the new custom system, Vice President of Data Management Christopher J. Meusel said, "I want to create a system that will reduce manual labor and, more importantly, eliminate manual error. The new process will speed up the release of media throughout the various in-house departments as well as with our third party vendors." This system is currently being used in house, though after a short trial period, ITV plans to extend this technology to outside Media Sources for improved facilitation and workflow of the tape duplication and shipment process. With the calendar full of new products and updates, expect to see even more new shows and spots from ITV Studios all over the airwaves! |
