NewsShadow Day at ITV June 22, 2006 Beverly, Massachusetts
It is never too early to think about the future, motivation starts young. People at the office of ITV along with some Saugus High seniors realize this statement. On May 3rd 2006, ITV hosted a Shadow Day. Three students from Saugus High School came to ITV to "shadow" Donald Barrett (President and CEO), Jason Bernabei (VP of Business Development), and Dru Martin (VP of Video and Campaign Production). Saugus High School's goal for the program is to help students understand the connection between academics and careers, the importance of education, as well as give them a glimpse of a real- life professional work environment. The Saugus teens got a full tour of ITV where they witnessed first hand how each department functions and contributes to ITV's daily regimen. They learned about several upcoming product launches and were clued-in about many of ITV's marketing strategies. Andrew Holland, a student who shadowed Studio VP, Dru Martin, was given a tour of ITV's new studio and sets. He worked on editing a demo as well as an audio session. He stated, "This was an opportunity that I will never forget." Dru Martin stated, "I feel that Andrew got some great exposure to what it is like to work in the production industry. He got some great hands on experience. I think it was beneficial for him to get some hands on experience prior to graduating from high school so he could know what it is like to work in the real world." As often occurs in the workplace, Donald, Jason and Dru evaluated the students based on attitude, punctuality, cooperation, enthusiasm, courtesy, proper attire, willingness to accept guidance and willingness to conform to rules and safety issues. Shadow Day at ITV was a great success. Helping students understand the variety of opportunities life offers is a wonderful experience. ITV hopes to have provided these students with motivation, encouragement and goals to aspire to achieve. |
